Last updated: September 22, 2026

This is an English translation provided for convenience. The French version is the original and legally binding version. In case of any discrepancy between the two, the French version prevails.

Findkin ("we", "the application") is published by Djulens Everly (Team Findkin). This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use Findkin, why, for how long we keep it, and how you can control it.

For any question, write to us at findkin.company@gmail.com.

1. Who is responsible for your data?

Djulens Everly (Team Findkin) is the data controller responsible for the processing of personal data collected through Findkin, within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What data we collect

a) Data you give us directly

  • At sign-up: email address and password (or your Google identity if you sign in with Google), display name.
  • On your profile: @handle (unique identifier), profile photo, cover photo, status, bio, your Kin (community) name, niche/topic.
  • Content you post: the "Next" you create (announcements, challenges, projects, collaborations), the replies/applications you send, comments, reactions (❤️), private messages exchanged with other members.
  • Reports: if you report a profile, we retain your identifier, the identifier of the reported person, and the reason given.

b) Data collected automatically

  • A unique technical identifier (assigned by Firebase Authentication) associated with your account.
  • Your account creation date.
  • Technical information necessary for the proper functioning of the service (e.g. sign-in state), stored locally on your device by Firebase Authentication.

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking tools for marketing purposes. We do not install third-party trackers.

c) What we do NOT collect

We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, or payment data (Findkin does not currently process any payments).

3. Why we use your data

  • To create and manage your account, and authenticate you.
  • To display your profile and posts to other members, according to the visibility settings you choose (Open / Members / By invitation).
  • To enable private messaging between members.
  • To enable community features: joining a Kin, reacting, commenting, applying to a project.
  • To ensure the security of the service and prevent abuse (blocking, reporting, moderation).
  • To contact you if necessary regarding your account.

We never sell your data to third parties and never use it for advertising purposes.

4. Who your data is shared with

Your data is hosted and processed by the following technical processors, who are not entitled to use it for their own purposes:

  • Google Firebase (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) — authentication and database (Firestore). Data may be processed on servers located outside the European Union; Google adheres to the standard contractual clauses recognized by the European Commission to govern such transfers.
  • Vercel Inc. — hosting of the photos you add to your profile (profile photo, cover) via Vercel Blob.

Other than these technical providers, your data is not shared with any other third party, except as required by law.

Visibility among members: depending on the settings you choose for a project (Open, Members, By invitation), the content you post may be visible to other Findkin members. Your name, handle, and profile photo are visible to anyone signed in to the application.

5. How long we keep your data

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete:

  • your profile, your handle, your "Next" and their associated content,
  • your Kin memberships and participations,
  • your block list.

Some traces may temporarily remain in our technical processors' systems (backups) before final purging, within a reasonable timeframe.

Messages you have exchanged with other members may remain visible to your correspondent even after your account is deleted, with your profile then appearing as "deleted member".

6. Your rights

In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights over your data:

  • Right of access: to know what data we hold about you.
  • Right of rectification: to correct inaccurate information (editable directly in your profile).
  • Right to erasure: to delete your account and your data, directly from the application or by writing to us.
  • Right to portability: to receive your data in a structured format.
  • Right to object and to restrict processing, in the cases provided for by law.

To exercise these rights, write to findkin.company@gmail.com. If you are in the EU, you may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr), if you believe your rights are not being respected. If you are located elsewhere, you may also be entitled to contact your local data protection authority.

7. Minimum age

Findkin is intended for people aged 16 and over. If you are under 16, you must not create an account without the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

8. Security

We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your data (strict access rules on our database, encrypted connection). No system is entirely foolproof; if you discover a security flaw, please report it to the address above.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy. In the event of an important change, we will notify you through the application. The last-updated date is shown at the top of this document.
